Hearts of Oak’s perfect start to the Ghana Premier League season came to an end on Sunday after they were held to a goalless draw by Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Phobians had won their opening two matches against Bibiani Gold Stars and Berekum Chelsea and were hoping to make it three victories in a row.
However, they were unable to find a breakthrough despite enjoying long spells of possession and creating opportunities in the encounter.
Bechem United defended with discipline and determination, frustrating Hearts in the final third to secure a valuable point away from home.
The result ends Hearts’ winning run but keeps them unbeaten after three matches. The Phobians remain at the top of the league table, level on points with second-placed FC Samartex.

Samartex also surrendered a lead at home as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Asante Kotoko at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad was instrumental in earning the Porcupine Warriors a point after saving a penalty in the 66th minute.
The visitors eventually took the lead nine minutes later when former Samartex striker Emmanuel Mamah rose highest to connect with Walid’s cross and send a powerful header into the top corner.
Kotoko, however, could not hold on to their advantage as Christian Agyenim Boateng restored parity eight minutes later to preserve Samartex’s unbeaten home record.

The draw leaves Kotoko without an away win after three league matches, although they remain unbeaten with five points.
Samartex moved into second place, level on points with Hearts, while Kotoko sit fourth.
Hearts will travel to Tamale to face Karela United next, while Bechem United host Dreams FC. Kotoko return home to take on Aduana FC, with Samartex travelling to face Swedru All Blacks.
