France captain Kylian Mbappe says having Zinedine Zidane as head coach of France’s National Men’s Football Team seems unreal.
He said this ahead of France’s UEFA Nations League fixtures against Belgium twice, Italy and Turkiye later this month.
Zidane was appointed as France head coach following Didier Deschamps’ exit from the role after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Under Deschamps, France played in two World Cup finals and won the 2018 edition while finishing fourth at the 2026 edition.
France legend Zidane stepped into the national team head coaching role after leading Real Madrid to win three UEFA Champions League titles in a row and Mbappe shared how happy he was to have Zidane as his national team coach.
“Now he’s my national team coach. It’s like something out of a movie, but he’s top-level. It’s a new phase with a new coach.”
“It’s going to be a new experience for everyone, since we’ve only ever had Deschamps. It will be a change for us, but I think everything will turn out very well” Mbappe said.
