Eric Tinkler has stated that the reason behind his shock resignation from his role as Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach was not down to performance of his team. (Scroll down to watch video)
He made this known in a briefing to the playing body after his decision to leave the club just two months after his appointment.
Tinkler has reportedly agreed to join South African Premier League side Durban City after leaving Kotoko following the club’s shock 2-0 loss at home to Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
Addressing the team, Tinkler stated that he had decided to resign prior to the game against Aduana.
“I have handed in my resignation but…it has nothing to do with performance. It had nothing to do with the result [against Aduana Stars]. This was a decision I had already made last week. This is the world of football.”
“I was given a good offer to go back to a club in South Africa and that is the main reason why I’ve made the decision that I have” Tinkler said.
Under Tinkler, Kotoko won the Democracy Cup.
