France head coach Zinedine Zidane has praised Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet after another impressive performance for the national team.
Jacquet played the full 90 minutes in France’s 1-1 draw with Italy in the UEFA Nations League.
The result ended France’s winning start under Zidane, who took charge following the team’s fourth-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Jacquet’s contribution became even more important after Real Madrid defender Dayot Upamecano was sent off in the 85th minute, leaving France to finish the game with 10 men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Jacquet helped France hold on for a point, prompting Zidane to commend the Liverpool defender’s performance.
“Very good. Very, very good. Brave. He wasn’t afraid to come out a long way. Very good in the duels. He was, once again, very good. I said it four times.”

Playing against Italy marked Jacquet’s second game for France after making his debut in France’s 1-0 win over Belgium.

Jacquet is expected to feature against Belgium in the return leg on Monday, October 5.
