Real Madrid defender Marc Cucurella has urged the club’s fans to be patient after a difficult start to the 2026/27 season.
Speaking ahead of Spain’s UEFA Nations League clash against Czechia on Saturday, October 3, Cucurella reflected on Madrid’s campaign so far and urged supporters to give the team time to settle.
Real Madrid currently sit fourth in La Liga after five wins and two defeats from their opening seven matches. They have also made a winning start to their UEFA Champions League campaign.
Cucurella, who joined Real Madrid in the offseason alongside new head coach Jose Mourinho, also spoke about his own adjustment to life at the club. Madrid currently trail arch-rivals Barcelona by six points in the league, but Cucurella believes the team can improve as the season progresses.
“It’s all a process. With the national team, the foundations have been laid over many years — with the [same] coach, too.”

“At Madrid, we have just started with a new manager and it’s too soon to speak. Some players only had a week-long preseason before starting.”

“It’s a process and we will see where we are at the end of the campaign. It’s not even been 10 games yet. It’s a new club for me.”

“I have to adapt to my new teammates and give my best so that the player you see with the national team is the same player with Real Madrid” Cucurella said.
