Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has been unveiled as the new head coach of South African Premier League side Durban City.
His appointment was announced on Thursday, October 8, just two months after he left Kotoko.
Tinkler guided Kotoko to victory in the Democracy Cup and recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat in the Ghana Premier League before his departure.
Explaining his decision to return to his homeland, South Africa, Tinkler said his relationship with Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia, which dates back to their time together at Maritzburg United, played a key role in his decision.
“The club is very ambitious, they have made positive strides in a short space of time, competing in the CAF Confederation Cup already, and that made my decision easy.”

“The chairman is someone I’ve worked with before. When the opportunity presented itself to come back, I grabbed it with both hands” Tinkler said.

His first game in charge of Durban City is a match against AmaZulu on Tuesday, October 13.
