Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams says the next Black Stars head coach, if foreign, should spend more time in Ghana.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Kofi Adams outlined the expectation as discussions continue over the appointment of a successor to Carlos Queiroz.
The minister’s comments come as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry work through a five-member search committee chaired by Fred Pappoe to recommend a candidate for the vacant position.
“In our engagement [with the GFA], we indicated, our coach should also be interested in spending time in Ghana.”

“You can’t have a national team coach who visits the country only when the team is coming to play a competition…then you are not a national team coach.”

“The coach must spend more time here and maybe go to Europe to also scout there from time to time” Kofi Adams said.

Kofi Adams also rejected allegations of the Ministry’s involvement in the visa scandal linked to Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
