For the first time in 25 years, an Englishman has won the prestigious Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year Award with Harry Kane scooping up the trophy.
Kane excelled in the 2025-2026 season to beat out competition from Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
The Bayern Munich striker starred in the immediate past season by registering 61 goals and seven assists in 51 games as Bayern won the German Bundesliga, German Super Cup and German Cup.
On the international front, Kane scored six goals in seven games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup helping England to win the bronze medal which was the Three Lions’ best finish since winning the competition in 1966.

Speaking after winning the award, Kane dedicated his triumph to his family particularly his wife, Katie Goodland by stating,

“My kids back home watching – it is past your bedtime! You’re the reason I do this. This one is a special one. I can’t wait to see you and celebrate with you. I love you very much.”

“My wife Kate, my best friend. You’re my biggest supporter. We have done it. You always want the best for me. You sacrifice yourself to help me achieve my reams. It wouldn’t be possible without you”.

Spain’s Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Player of the Year Award for the third time while Lamine Yamal won the Young Player of the Year Award for the third year in a row.
