Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso says Brazilian forward Joao Pedro will not feature in the Blues Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool on Wednesday, October 28 at Anfield.
Alonso stated in a pre-game presser that Pedro had picked up a thigh injury and will be out of action for a “few weeks”.
Pedro’s injury stems from an incident that forced him to miss Chelsea’s English Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend.
Chelsea lost 2-0 to their London rivals in a game that had Cole Palmer sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
Joao Pedro has had a brilliant start to the 2026-2027 season, scoring five goals in six games.

“He has an injury in his thigh and he’s going to be out for a few weeks. Let’s see how many; we don’t want to predict that. But he will not be ready for the next games.”

“He is a key player and we will miss him, but we have to be ready to deal with the injury, be competitive and try to win games with the players we have available” Xabi Alonso said.
