The Essipong Stadium in Sekondi will host Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Somalia after receiving temporary approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku announced the development on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, during a meeting between the GFA Executive Council and Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports.
The Black Stars will host Somalia in the first leg on November 12 before travelling to the Accra Sports Stadium for the return fixture on November 16.
The approval follows renovation works at Essipong Stadium aimed at bringing its facilities up to international standards.
The venue was recently cleared by CAF to host the Black Queens’ Olympic Games qualifier against Mauritius, marking another step in its return to international football.
Somalia will play their home fixture in Accra after receiving permission to use the Accra Sports Stadium because they do not have a CAF-approved venue.
Ghana head into the double-header under pressure after losing their opening two matches, leaving them bottom of Group C without a point.
The two matches against Somalia offer the Black Stars a crucial opportunity to revive their campaign and keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 AFCON alive.
