SC Zamalek head coach Jose Gomes believes his team thoroughly deserved to win its second leg tie against Dreams Football Club at the Baba Yara Stadium.
He said this after watching his side crush Dreams FC 3-0 to progress to the CAF Confederation Cup final game after playing out a goalless draw in the first leg.
Veteran Tunisian defender Hamza Mathlouthi’s header early in the game and a smart finish from Samson Akinyoola in the first half set Zamalek up for the big result.
After promising things will be different in Kumasi in the second leg after the first leg, Jose Gomes was adamant his team was the better of the two sides after the win.
“We created spaces and deserved to win. Zamalek did not take advantage of the opportunities it had in the first leg, and we succeeded in dealing with the return match well. We were the best and deserved to win the match and qualify for the final.”
On the other hand, Dreams FC head coach Karim Zito bemoaned his team’s drop in concentration that led to the conceded goals. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
