African U-20 Qualifiers: Ghana beat Benin 3-1 in Cape Coast

Ghana’s Black Satellites needed a brace from WAFA player, Richard Danso, to get a 3-1 win over Benin at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday in the first leg of the third round of qualifiers for the 2019 African U-20 Championships in Niger.

The Satellites started well but the Beninese, who played a very physical encounter, took the lead in the 28th minute through Allagbani Saliou. He finished off a counter attack for the visitor after soaking pressure from the home team.

After 60 minutes on the clock, Ghana pulled level through Richard Danso. His shot went via a deflection. That pushed Ghana to get the second from captain Issahaku Konda who scored from a corner 12 minutes later.

The victory was sealed in the 85th minute when Danso scored his second of the day after the Beninese defence failed to get the ball out of their box.

The return leg of the match will be in Cotonou on August 10 with the overall winner making it to the U-20 Championships in 2019.
