Ghana’s Black Starlets came back from a goal down to beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-17 Championships in Niger.

The Starlets had made it to the last flour after drawing with Niger and beating Togo in the group stages and were hoping to gain a confident start to the match.

However, they were stunned by a goal from the Ivorians when Seydou Traore found the net.

The Starlets fought their way back into the tie and got the equaliser through Umar Mohammed  in the 40th minute.

5 minutes later, Taufiq Shaibu scored to make it 2-1 to Ghana at half time.

Cote d’Ivoire tried to get back into the game but Ghana keeper David Kudjo prevented them with a host of saves.

The rest of the team also had to hold on as Eugene Adjei Frimpong was given a second yellow card in the 75th minute.
