President Nana Akufo-Addo has nominated Prof. Peter Twumasi for the position of Director-General of the National Sports Authority.

The decision was made public via a statement signed by Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah and put out on Wednesday.

The post was being held by Majeed Bawa as the acting head after substantive head, Robert Sarfo Mensah, was suspended in the aftermath of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas documentary.

He was seen in the tape allegedly involved in certain perceived corrupt acts and was punished as a consequence.

The statement added that all governmental procedures will be used to make Prof. Twumasi’s appointment regular in line with the laws of the land.

Who is Prof. Peter Twumasi?

Not much is known of Prof. Twumasi in the sporting circles as he is an academic.

He is the head of the Biochemistry Department of the KNUST’s College of Science and he specialises in plant sciences.

He was trained in Ghana and the Netherlands.
