IBF Lightweight challenger, Teofimo Lopez, has vowed to knockout Ghana’s Richard Commey when the two face off in their world title bout in December.
The American Honduran, who is unbeaten in 14 professional bouts, will make his first ever title challenge against Commey at the Madison Square Garden on December 14.
Despite Commey’s growing reputation after already mounting one successful title defence, Lopez has boldly declared himself victor by knockout come December.
“I’m finally back at Madison Square Garden, the place where I always wanted to win my first world title,” Lopez said.
“I believe this fight will shut up all of the critics and prove to everyone that I back up my talking in the ring. I respect Commey as a champion, but when we’re in that ring, it’s going to be lights out for him.
“Come December 14, I am officially taking over the lightweight division.”
The winner of the bout will face off against Ukrainian multiple title holder Vasyl Lomachenko in early 2020, for a chance to unify the division.
