The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has stated that the Government will support the National Sports Authority to put together Inter-Districts Sports competitions in 2020 to help the nation discover more sporting talents for future assignments like the 2020 Olympic Games.

The plan was captured in the 2020 Budget Statement and Economic Policy which was read on the floor of Ghana’s Parliament on Wednesday.

The Minister did not give further details of the competitions but it is expected that the National Sports Authority will be at the forefront of handling these events in conjunction with the various districts.

In addition to the competition, the budget also indicated that the NSA will hold a bi-annual congress that will seek to draw up plans and strategies for sports development at the district and regional levels.

Also, the NSA will be tasked to support the districts and regions so that they will be better equipped to play their roles in the area of sports development.
