Gold Fields to support top Ghanaian Pro Golfers

The Chairman of the organising Committee for Gold Fields PGA Golf Championships Mr Hans De Beer, has said it will be a dream come true if Ghana’s top professional Golfers are able to play at the international level.

Some of Ghana’s top golfers like Vincent Torgah, Kojo Barnni and Emos Korbla, have at times gotten close to competing at the highest level but have often failed to reach competitions such as the British Open, US, Augusta and PGA Tour.

Speaking at the 6th Gold Fields PGA Championship opening ceremony at Damang, in the Western Region this morning Hans De Beer, who is also the Vice President of Gold Fields, in charge of Project and Engineering hinted that financial constraints has retard most of our professional Golfers to perform to the highest level.

Kojo Barnni ranked Ghana’s number one now, Vincent Torgah and Emos Korblah are Golfers who have seen it all on the african soil but finding it very difficult to break through into the other regions of the world.

“It will be a great pleasure if our Pros play at the top level although financial difficulties seem to be the barrier but as a corporate entity that wants to give back to the society, we will do our best to put them on the globe. Many golfers are not able to survive all because there is a lack of corporate sponsorship which is very sad,” Hans De Beer said at the opening ceremony of the 2019 PGA Championship in Damang.

The 2019 Gold Fields PGA Championship began on Thursday and will conclude on Saturday.
