Ghana’s Thomas Partey put in a spectacular performance on Tuesday, as Atletico Madrid beat holders Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Partey was a beast in midfield, dominating the Red’s usually unbeatable middle line of Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Henderson.

He broke up play constantly, ensuring that Liverpool were never able to get a stranglehold on the game.

His magnificent passing on the night was a highlight, as he switched play from side to side effortlessly.

Partey was also at the center of Atletico’s numerous counter-attacks, passing the ball forward to his strikers with unnerving precision.

Saul Niguez’s strike eventually settled the first leg of the tie in favour of the Spanish side.

This match against the would-be Premier League Champions was just another highlight in a stellar season for the Black Stars midfielder.

He has already dominated games against Barcelona and Real Madrid this season, leading to strong suggestions that he could find himself playing for either of those two clubs next season.

There’ve been whispers about a potential move to the Premier League as well with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea rumoured to be interested in the player.

And based on his performance last night, Atletico will have a fight on their hands to keep Partey as teams will be lining up to sign the Ghanaian this summer.

Take a look at his Man of The Match performance against Liverpool below
