Black Stars striker, Jordan Ayew is on the verge of making history.

The player is just one goal away from becoming Ghana’s highest ever goalscorer in the Premier League.

He equalled former Leeds forward, Anthony Yeboah’s tally of 24 goals, scored across just two seasons in the English top-flight, last Saturday with the only goal of the game for Crystal Palace against Watford.

Jordan’s tally has come in significantly fewer games than “Yegoala’s” but it does, in no way, lessen the impact of the feat.

Jordan celebrates winner over West Ham in October

Jordan’s brother, Andre and Ghana’s highest ever goalscorer, Asamoah Gyan have both played in the Premier League but neither have got as close to the record as Jordan has.

With nine matches left, there are nine opportunities for Jordan to break the 24-year-old record.

Will he break it next weekend, in the final game of the season or will he have to wait until next season?

Ayew has scored twice in his last two Premier League matches and given his red hot form this season, don’t count out the Ghanaian, finding the net again before the campaign is over.

So when and against which teams could Jordan break the record?

Ayew and Crystal Palace’s remaining Premier League games

Saturday 14 March 2020 – vs Bournemouth (A)

Palace travel to Bournemouth just four days from today. Looking at the stats, you would bet on Jordan getting a goal against the Cherries.

Bournemouth have conceded 47 goals throughout the season – only four teams have conceded more goals than them this season in the Premier League. They have also conceded 10 goals in their last 10 league games, the kind of team you’d expect Jordan to be eyeing as he closes in on the new record.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He played 90 minutes against them in the first game a 1-0 win for Palace, although he failed to score or provide an assist.

Saturday 21 March 2020 – vs Liverpool (A)

The Reds have only conceded 21 goals this season, the lowest any team has let in, in the Premier League.

They have conceded six times in their last five league games, not the worst ratio but it gets a little more interesting when you consider that all those goals have come in their last three games.

Liverpool are showing some defensive frailties and teams are taking advantage. Jordan could as well.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He played 76 minutes for Palace in the 2-1 loss but failed to score or provide an assist.

Saturday 4 April 2020 – vs Burnley (H)

This will be a tough one for both Palace and Jordan Ayew. 10th-placed Burnley have conceded 40 times this season but only twice in their last five league games – and those included matches against both Tottenham and Arsenal.

Sean Dyche’s might just present Jordan’s most difficult challenge in their nine remaining matches.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He played 82 minutes for Palace in the 2-1 win in November but failed to score or provide an assist.

Saturday 11 April 2020 – vs Leicester City (A)

Leicester have one of the league’s best defences with only 28 conceded. But recent performances will give Crystal Palace and Jordan some encouragement. For all their disappointing results, they’ve however only let in four goals in their last five matches. Not exactly a porous defence.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He played 78 minutes for Palace in the 2-1 loss but failed to score or provide an assist.

Saturday 18 April 2020 – vs Chelsea (H)

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He played the full match for Palace in the 2-0 loss but failed to score or provide an assist.

Monday 27 April 2020 – vs Aston Villa (A)

Jordan had a decent outing against Villa in the first meeting and will fancy his chances against a side in the bottom three in the league that has conceded 56 goals; the most in the division.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Palace.

Saturday 2 May 2020 – vs Manchester United (H)

United’s defence in recent weeks has been almost unbreachable. They’ve only conceded once in their last five Premier League matches. They might be a tough challenge for Jordan should he not have scored before then but United have a tendency to lose their cool against the ‘smaller teams’.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He scored the opening goal at Old Trafford in Palace’s famous 2-1 win.

Saturday 9 May 2020 – vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)

Only 34 goals conceded by Wolves and only two in their last four matches but they do occasionally let a few in on a bad day. It’ll be up to Jordan to take advantage should they have one.

How did Jordan do against them earlier in the season?

He completed 62 minutes of their 1-1 draw, back in September.

Sunday 17 May 2020 – vs Tottenham Hotspur (H)

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side are struggling mightily to keep out goals. It could be prime pickings for Jordan Ayew, particularly if Tottenham don’t have anything to play for come the final round of the season.
