‘May our birthday wish stay with you like the 4-0 thrashing’ – See Hearts of Oak’s savage wish to Kotoko

They are the fiercest of rivals on the pitch, and it appears the rivalry between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko is just as strong off it as well.

While the two clubs clearly have lots of respect for each other, neither can resist taking shots at each other when they can.

Hearts tweeted their best wishes to Kotoko on Monday, as the Kumasi club celebrated its 85th anniversary, with a pretty friendly message.

On the occasion of your 85th celebrations, the management of @Hearts of Oak sends you a congratulatory message. As the two most glamorous clubs in #Ghana, it is our wish that we will leverage on our support base to continue to set the pace and make our game better.

In their tweet, Hearts spoke of their desire to see both clubs push each other to greater heights for the benefit of the game in Ghana.

“On the occasion of your 85th celebrations, the management of Hearts of Oak sends you a congratulatory message.

“As the two most glamorous clubs in Ghana, it is our wish that we will leverage on our support base to continue to set the pace and make our game better.”

The Phobians weren’t done though, adding another, more stinging, tweet.

@AsanteKotoko_SC Club, welcome to old age and may our birthday wishes stay with you forever like the 4 – 0 trashing we gave you.
As we celebrate and make merry let us remember to keep safe from Covid 19.

Hearts referenced their 4-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors in 2000, wishing that the earlier felicitations would stay with them like the memory of that defeat.

“Welcome to old age and may our birthday wishes stay with you forever like the 4 – 0 trashing we gave you. As we celebrate and make merry let us remember to keep safe from Covid 19.”
