Eto’o, Dani Alves back Lionel Messi after criticism of Barcelona Board’s handling of Suarez transfer

Following Lionel Messi’s attack on Barcelona’s Board for their treatment of former striker, Luis Suarez, a number of the club’s ex-players have backed the Argentine.

Messi, already frustrated with the club’s refusal to let him leave this summer did not hold back as he called out the club in his Instagram post.

“You deserved a send-off for what you are: one of the greatest players in the club’s history, achieving great things. And not getting kicked out like they did. But, the truth is that at this point nothing surprises me,” Messi’s post said.

His post has generated some intense conversation on social media with many debating whether Messi is justified in taking on the Board.

However, some people who aren’t in any doubt that Messi was spot on are his former teammates, Neymar, Dani Alves, Cesc Fabregas and Samuel Eto’o.

Neymar, who left Barcelona for PSG in a very controversial deal that soured his relations with the club responded to Messi’s post, saying: “Incredible how they do things.”

Former Brazil right-back, Dani Alves who played for several years at Barcelona with Messi was a bit more direct.

“Unfortunately that is the reality, which has been for a long time. It gets repeated year after year! It is not about winning or losing, it is about respect and they don’t know that. Keep it up, somehow we are there (for you).”

Cesc Fabregas posted clapping emojis in response to Messi’s post while Samuel Eto’o posted: “Elegance cannot be bought. Take care of yourself and think of you.“

Messi’s bad blood with the club stems from the club’s insistence that they would not let him leave without the right price being paid.
