El-Wak Wings Volleyball Club, the reigning champions of the President’s Cup, are gearing up for a major challenge at the 2023 Inter Club “CAVB” African Volleyball Championship in Tunis, Tunisia.

The highly-anticipated tournament is scheduled to run from the 10th of May to the 22nd of May, 2023.

Although El-Wak Wings Volleyball Club finished in third place in the Greater Accra League, they secured their spot in the continental championship by triumphing in the 2023 President’s Cup.

The club’s senior men’s team will be following in the footsteps of their female counterparts, who represented Ghana at the tournament in 2022.

Deputy Team Manager of El-Wak Wings, Alswell Asiedu told Citi Sports:

“We have our 14-man squad ready in camp training hard. We are also looking forward to sponsors to enable us to pay for our accommodation and feeding.

We beseech the assistance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, corporate bodies, and individuals to support us.

We are going to represent Ghana and we are poised to win, to also show the world that Ghana does well in other sports and not football only”.

The tournament will feature a plethora of top clubs from across the continent, including defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt, as well as other prominent clubs such as Zamalek and Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya.

The competition will also see teams from Tunisia, Kenya, Cote D’Ivoire, and Uganda battling it out for the coveted title.

El-Wak Wings Volleyball Club are eager to make their mark at the championship, and their dedicated and talented players are determined to give it their all in their quest for glory.
