The Government of Ghana has granted permission for stadiums to admit 25% capacity for sporting activities in the country.
In September 2020, government said it would allow stadiums to admit 25% capacity of fans when it announced the return of sporting activities that had been suspended since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, that decision was reversed in two months later, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports directing all games be played behind closed doors, citing a spike the cases of COVID-19 in the country.
In the latest statement signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, permission has now been granted for sporting activities to take place in front of a 25% capacity crowd.
The news will come as welcome relief for Ghana Premier League clubs who have lamented how the absence of spectators is significantly hurting a vital source of revenue.
