AFCON 2021Q: Mubarak Wakaso, Emmanuel Boateng join local players’ camp

Black Stars head coach, C. K Akonnor has invited Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel Boateng to the team’s training camp ahead of Ghana’s doubleheader qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Principe.

The two players who play in the Chinese Super League are in Ghana for holidays after the season ended and are expected to join the locally-based players on Thursday.

Coach C. K. Akonnor, last week, began preparation with 32 home-based players for the final two games scheduled for March 24 and 28 respectively. These players have been reduced to 24 with a final list set to be announced ahead of the matches.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko fullbacks, Christopher Nettey and Ibrahim Moro are still in the squad, Gladson Awako, Justice Blay and Yaw Annor are also part of the list while Diawusie Taylor and Kwame Opoku hope to make their Black Stars debut.

The listed players are expected to report at the M-Plaza Hotel on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Defenders: Ganiyu Ismail (Asante Kotoko), Yusif Mubarik (Asante Kotoko), Kwadwo Amoako (Ashantigold SC), Konadu Yiadom (WAFA), Ibrahim Moro (Asante Kotoko), Haruna Jamal Deen (Great Olympics), Christopher Nettey (Asante Kotoko), Dennis Korsah (Ebusua Dwarfs), Joseph Agyei (Legon Cities)

Midfielders: Gladson Awako (Great Olympics), Justice Blay (Medeama SC), Michel Otou (Great Olympics), Yaw Annor (Ashantigold SC), Rashid Nortey (Medeama SC), Maxwell Abbey (Great Olympics), Augustine Boakye (WAFA), Salifu Moro (Bechem United), Mubarak Wakaso (Jiangsu Suning), Joseph Esso (Dreams FC)

Forwards: Emmanuel Boateng (Dalian Pro), Kwame Peprah (King Faisal), Kwame Opoku (Asante Kotoko), Diawusie Taylor (Karela United)
