The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ordered that all league matches be played behind closed doors beginning from Saturday, February 13, 2021, for the next four weeks.
This means that no spectators will be allowed at any league venue for all of GFA’s competitions, i.e. the Ghana Premier League, the National Division One League and the Women’s Premier League.
However, this directive does not affect Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederations Cup game with ES Setif of Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This directive according to the Executive Council, will give the GFA ample time to put in place effective measures to make the various stadia safe for fans and consumers of football as the country keeps on with the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, the GFA intends to use the four-week period to strategize and re-engage stakeholders before opening up the various league centres to the public.
The various clubs have also been admonished to use the period to train stewards who will be directly responsible for fan conduct and control.
