Ghana Premier League club Ashanti Gold have denied claims of match fixing levelled against them after videos of some bizzare goals conceded by opponents, Inter Allies, in their final game of the season went viral.

Ashgold’s 7-0 win over Inter Allies has come under the spotlight after footage of the two own goals by Allies defender Hashmin Musah and a third controversial goal were shared on social media.

Despite the defender claiming to have netted the own goals to ruin a bet on the match, allegedly by their opponents, there have been strong suggestions of match-fixing.

The Ghana Football Association has launched an investigation into the incident and have notified the police to commence a criminal probe as well.

Ashgold have also issued a statement, denying the claims, insisting that their players scored “five great goals.”

The club said it had no idea why the Inter Allies defender scored two own goals with just 12 minutes to play.

“We take notice of the videos circulating in relation to our game aganist Inter Allies and wish to unequivocally disassociate [ourselves] from any wrongdoing. AshantiGold playad competitively in the entire duration of the game, with our players scoring five great goals through hard work and team effort in the 15th, 26th, 42nd, 49th and 77th minutes respectively,” the club’s statement said.

“We have no idea as to why the opponents’ player scored two own goals”

They warned that any suggestions that the club were involved in any nefarious activities would be met with legal action.

Inter Allies were relegated prior to the weekend’s final round of matches while Ashgold would have been safe regardless of their result on Sunday.

However the ridiculous nature of the goals, videos of which were shared by journalist, Saddick Adams on social media have sparked outrage among Ghanaians.

The craziest own goals ever in the history of football.
