Aisha Buhari Cup: Black Queens down Lionesses of Cameroon 2-0

Ghana’s Black Queens recorded their first win of the 2021 Aisha Buhari Invitational Cup in Nigeria on Monday after they beat the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 2-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The Queens were playing in their second match of the tournament and they were hoping to get a more positive result after they lost 3-0 to South Africa in their first match played on September 17.

After a goalless first half, Ghana found the net in the 60th minute when Princella Adubea fired home close range after she cut into the Cameroonian penalty area from the left wing area.

The Cameroonians tried to respond but they could not find the net and in the 88th minute, they were hit by a Ghanaian sucker punch on the break. Vivian Adjei Konadu managed to hold her nerve to go past three Cameroonian defenders and finish convincingly.

The result gives Ghana three points even as they exit the competition while the Cameroonians go home with no points on the board after they lost to Morocco in their opening match.
