Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Patrick Twumasi, has revealed that a program for the revival of school sports in the country will soon be launched.

School Sports has been on a break since March 2020 due to the Coronavirus Outbreak.

While other Sporting activities have resumed, school sports still remains suspended but Twumasi says the Sports and Education ministries are working hard to bring competition back to schools.

“It’s exciting the days ahead of us.”

“Immediately the Sports Minister took charge, he set up a committee to come out with a program for the revival of school sports, in conjunction with the Minister of Education.” He told Citi Sports.

“We are coming out with a fantastic program for the revival of school sports, it’s excellent and very soon it will be launched, so school sports is coming back.”

The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif in the past weeks has already reiterated his commitment to reviving Interschools sporting competitions in the country.

“The 2023 Africa Games offers our country a unique opportunity to revitalize all aspects of our sports, including development, promotion and active organisation of competitions, especially at the lower levels to unearth more talents,” he said.

“Strengthening the Interschools Games by making it more competitive and exciting, is one of the surest routes towards achieving this, and as sector Minister, I reiterate my commitment to this.”
