“Judge Jordan Ayew by his contribution not goals” – Fiifi Tackie defends misfiring striker

Family Spokesperson for the Ayews, Fiifi Tackie, has jumped to the defense of striker Jordan Ayew, who is currently on a goal-scoring drought.

Ayew, 30, has scored only one league goal in the past 11 months, last finding the back of the net for Crystal Palace in November 2020.

In the Black Stars team, Jordan’s last goal came via the penalty spot against Sao Tome and Principe in an AFCON 2021 qualifying match in November 2020.

Despite his lack of goals, the former Swansea striker has consistently been fielded at both club and the national team level, the latter decision infuriating many supporters in his native.

But Tackie, a journalist by profession, believes Ayew contributes much more than just goals to the teams in which he plays.

“Jordan Ayew is more of a team player than an individual player”, he told Happy FM.

“He doesn’t see anything wrong if he tries to assist than to score. Assess Jordan Ayew by his contribution on the pitch it is why Patrick Vieira will continue to use him”.

Ayew is expected to lead the line when Ghana take on Zimbabwe on Friday in an 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on October 9, 2021.
