‘It might be possible’ – Asamoah Gyan on becoming GFA President in future

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has hinted that he might follow the steps of Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba and contest the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the future.

Gyan admitted that he had not thought about taking that step quite yet but refused to completely rule out the possibility.

He added that a number of people had approached him with the idea as well.

“I don’t know. It might be possible. I haven’t thought about it. There are a lot of people who call me and tell me that I can be the FA President one day,” he said on Asaase FM on Tuesday.

Former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker, Samuel Eto’o was elected the Cameroonian FA Boss last year and oversaw the country’s hosting of AFCON 2021 earlier in 2022.

Ex-Chelsea forward, Didier Drogba was also recently cleared to contest the elections for the Ivorian Football Federation presidency.

Gyan did not rule out the possibility of emulating the duo, although he stated that hasn’t actively considered it yet.

“It’s something I haven’t thought about but it might get to a time when I might pick a thought that the people are choosing me. I don’t think Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba ever thought that they would go for the presidency. It got to a time where they realised that they could,” Gyan added
