The Ghana Athletics Association have inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee for the Confederation of African Athletics region 2 U-18 and U-20 Championships to be hosted in Ghana.

The competition will take place at the Cape Coast Stadium, from May 18 to May 21, 2022.

Former Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah will serve as Board Chairman of a 7 person LOC, of which General Secretary of the Ghana Athletics Association, Bawa Fuseni, is a member.

In his acceptance speech, Adjei Sowah pledged the committee’s commitment in ensuring the successful organization of the games.

“This is a duty call for a national assignment  and as much as the time is short, experienced individuals were selected to steer the affairs of the games.

“We want to assure that we will put our best foot forward in terms of organizing, participation, officiating and delivery.

The Western leg of the CAA U-20 and U-18 Athletics Championship will feature the best of West African youth talent in athletics and serve as qualification to the World Athletics U20 Championship to be hosted in Cali, Colombia later this year.
