Ghana’s national Beach Soccer team, the Black Sharks will take a slight advantage into the second leg of their 2022 AFCON qualifier against Egypt.

The Sharks won 6-5 in an enthralling encounter at the Laboma beach in Accra on Saturday, 23rd July, 2022.

Kinni Ticor put Ghana ahead just after kick-off but the visitors levelled through Ibrahim Hassan.

Egypt took the lead but were pegged back as Richard Osa scored for the Sharks.

Hattam Mohammed scored yet again for Egypt but Ghana skipper Michael Sema levelled soon after.

Eugene Dekpey made it 4-3 to Ghana but the lead didn’t last long after the break as Mohammed Hussein scored Egypt’s equaliser.

Richard Osa scored his second of the game to put Ghana 5-4 up but the Egyptians scored again late on, with the game seemingly destined to end in a draw.

Ghana, however, found a late winner with Wisdom Adika grabbing their sixth of the game.

The Black Sharks will soon jet off to Cairo for the second leg on the weekend of August 5.

The winner of the tie on aggregate will qualify for the AFCON tournament in Mozambique.

In all, 14 teams are taking part in the final round of qualifiers, with the seven winners making it through to the competition.

Nigeria have already booked a place at the tournament after their opponents in the qualifiers, Libya pulled out.

Defending champions, Senegal look set to join them after a thumping 9-1 win over Cameroon in their away leg.

First leg results:

Ivory Coast  7-6 Morocco
Comoros 2-5  Uganda
Ghana 6-5 Egypt
Nigeria – Libya (Libya withdraw from qualifiers)
Seychelles 2-5 Madagascar
Cameroon 1-9 Senegal
Malawi 3-2 Tanzania
