Members of Egyptian side Al Ahly Sporting Club have dominated selections into the CAF Champions League Team of the Decade.

The Cairo based club won four CAF Champions League titles between 2012 and 2022 to become the most successful club in the history of the competition with 10 titles in all.

Al Ahly won Africa’s club football top prize in 2012, 2013, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 this decade after winning titles in 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2008 in the previous decade.

Seven past and present members of Ahly were named to the team with defenders Wael Gomer, Ahmed Fathy, Ali Maaloul and midfielder Hossam Ghaly leading the Ahly contingent.

TP Mazembe duo Stoppila Sunzu and Ally Samatta made the list with Kaizer Chiefs winger Khama Billiat and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango also making it into the elite group.

Sammata scored 60 goals in 103 appearances for Mazembe from 2011 to 2016 with the DR Congo team winning the 2015 Champions League title.

The 29 year old is on loan at Belgian side KRC Genk from Turkish team Fenerbache. See below for the full list of members of the elite team.
