The Ghana Football Association has launched a Talent Identification Programme under its Technical Directorate.

The initiative seeks to identify and develop the best-talented youth players in Ghana to form the base of the various national teams.

Scouts, Coaches and Talent Developers will be deployed to work with the Regional Football Associations to hunt for young talented footballers who will form the base of the national youth teams.

Speaking at the launch, GFA President, Kurt Okraku described the Talent Identification Programme as the wisest investment in Ghana football.

“To invest in our collection future as people who belong to this football ecosystem is key. It is the wisest investment any leader can do to our sport. We are not only being competitive today, we are thinking about our collective tomorrow. To provide fair playing ground for kids from the woods of Ghana to realize their dreams of also climbing the ladder to appear at the Mundial one day.”

FIFA’s Representative, Hesterine de Reus pledged total support from football’s governing body for the implementation of the Talent Identification Programme in Ghana.

According to her, FIFA has confidence in Ghana’s football talents.

“We will at least over the next four years co-operate and I am sure we will extend our co-operation for the long future. FIFA strongly believes in the huge potential that Ghana has. That is so much raw talents, and together we want to develop talents.”

The GFA Technical Directorate has put together a comprehensive Youth Development Plan that will address all the shortfalls in the Ghanaian football ecosystem.
