Ghanaian defender, Joseph Aidoo scored his first goal of the 2022-2023 Spanish La Liga season on Monday to earn Celta Vigo a 1-1 draw against Getafe.

Aidoo rose high to connect his head to Iago Aspas’ in swinging cross to tie the game after Getafe’s Enes Unal converted free kick in the 43rd minute. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)

Playing in his 11th straight game of the season, Aidoo grabbed his debut goal in the 89th minute to rescue a point for Celta. This is Celta’s second draw of the season.

The result keeps Celta Vigo in 13th place in the 20-team league standings with 11 points, after three wins, two draws and six losses.

Aidoo has played the full duration of all 11 league games he has appeared in for Celta this season, making him one of the most consistent Ghanaian players in terms of minutes played in Europe.

The 27-year-old former Inter Allies player is firmly in the mix for a call-up to Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Aidoo was called up for the Black Stars international friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua but did not come off the bench in both games.

In Qatar, Ghana has been drawn against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.
