Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are set for a solid financial windfall should their players get selected into Ghana’s Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.

This possibility comes as world football governing body FIFA has set aside $209 million to compensate clubs whose players will compete in the upcoming tournament.

Each team is entitled to a sum of $10,000 per player each day during the competition; clubs could end up earning up to $309,000 on each player who competes in the 2022 FIFA World Cup game.

This according to FIFA is to recognize football clubs contributions to the flagship football competition that is to be staged in Asia for the second time ever. The package has been officially named as the “Clubs Benefits Programme”.

Hearts and Kotoko have had a handful of players selected to Ghana’s Black Stars squad in recent international outings.

Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim and Hearts of Oak trio Afriyie Barnieh, Fatawu Mohammed and Dennis Korsah have received recent international call ups.

Barnieh

Barnieh and Korsah competed in Ghana’s bronze medal winning campaign in the Kirin Cup earlier this year.

In Qatar, Ghana has been drawn in Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
