We have developed a system to scout the best football talents – GFA

The Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Bernhard Lippert has outlined the key attributes that scouts will be looking for in the newly-introduced Talent Identification Programme.

Scouts, Coaches, and Talent Developers have been deployed to work with the Regional Football Associations to hunt for young talented footballers who will form the base of the national youth teams.

The programme aims to provide Associations with a thorough analysis of their high-performance ecosystem in both men’s and women’s football, including all national teams, domestic leagues, scouting projects and academics, in order to ensure that every talented player gets a chance to reach their full potential.

Bernard Lippert told Citi Sports: “The most important things are technical skills, speed, decision-making. Fast in the head and fast thinking, but there are exceptionally technical resources that we ask for.  We have developed a truly nice system to scout the best players. In the longer term, we will find them all”

FIFA has approved Ghana’s first-ever Talent Development Scheme programme.

Over 200 Member Associations across all Confederations have already signed up for the programme.
