Women’s PL Roundup: Fabulous Ladies shock Ampem Darkoa, Hasaacas Ladies extend streak

Gameweek 4 in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League threw up a few big surprises.

In the Northern Zone, defending champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies suffered their first loss of the season, going down 2-1 to Fabulous Ladies in Kumasi.

Princess Owusu and Afisatu Abubakari gave the home side a two-goal first-half lead which was halved a minute after the break by Mary Amponsah.

Fabulous Ladies, however, held on for a huge win.

Helena Obeng scored two late goals to hand Prisons Ladies a 2-0 win over Supreme Ladies.

Goals from Abdul Rahman Barikisu and Memuna Bagre helped Pearlpia Ladies to a 2-0 win at Candy Soccer Academy.

Northern Ladies and Ash-Town Ladies played out a 0-0 draw, one of two goalless ties across the gameweek.

Unbeaten Pearlpia Ladies top the Northern Zone on 10 points, two points clear of Ash-Town Ladies in second.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Prisons Ladies are a point further back in third and fourth place respectively.

In the Southern Zone, Hasaacas Ladies won their fourth-straight match of the season over the weekend.

Doreen Copson’s 36th-minute strike gave Hasaacas a 1-0 with at Thunder Queens.

An eighth-minute Harriet Adjetey goal helped Army Ladies to a 1-0 win over Ridge City.

Soccer Intellectuals and Faith Ladies both picked up 2-0 away wins over Police Ladies and Berry Ladies respectively.

Mary Boateng scored in the 12th minute for Soccer Intellectuals before Samira Ayingura doubled their lead in the 39th minute.

Adwoa Donkor and Jennifer Yeboah both found the net for Faith Ladies in their win.

Hasaacas Ladies top the Southern Zone with 12 points, three points clear of Faith Ladies in second.
