Spintex Knights have won the 2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II title and gained promotion to the Men’s Division I.

The team recorded a walkover win over University of Ghana (UG) in Game 2 of the three-game playoff series to clinch the historic title.

Both teams have qualified to compete in the 2023 ABL Men’s Division I season while Tudu Magic got relegated from the division at the end of the 2022 Regular season.

Knights beat UG 69-55 in Game One of the final series in the past week and were primed for another tough test but UG withdrew from competing in Game 2 with this year’s GUSA Games on the horizon.

The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games run from November 4 to November 21 and will be held by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

UG has won gold in men’s basketball at three straight editions of the biannual multi sport competition and is aiming for a fourth title win.

Later on Wednesday, Game 3 of the Women’s Division Final between Reformers of Prisons and Braves of Customs will be played.  Reformers tied the series by winning Game Two 52-50.

2021 Men’s Division II Champions TUSK Foundation lost 52-56 to Galaxy Basketball Academy to finish fourth.
