Ghana midfielder, Baba Iddrisu has picked up an injury, mere days before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The midfielder is in the running to be named to the Black Stars squad for the tournament.

Iddrisu limped off the field and was substituted at halftime in Real Mallorca’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league.

The 26-year-old made his sixth start of the season and was yellow-carded in the 26th minute but then picked up a knock which forced him off at the break.

The timing of Iddrisu’s injury is of major concern to Ghana’s Black Stars as the defensive midfielder played a key role in Ghana’s qualification to the World Cup for the fourth time.

The 26-man squad to compete at this year’s World Cup for Ghana will be named on Monday, November 14, and Iddrisu is in line to make the cut after being included in the 55-man provisional list recently.

He also played in international friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua in September.
