Former Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has described Argentina and Paris Saint German player Lionel Messi as the world’s “8th Wonder”.

He said this via his official twitter page while reacting to Argentina’s 4-2 penalty shootout win in the final game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina drew 3-3 with France at the end of extra time and the tie was settled via penalties as the South American nation won the World Cup for the third time.

A big admirer of Messi, Atsu tweeted, “The 8th wonder of the world #messi” in the aftermath of Messi winning his first World Cup title.

Former Barcelona star Messi, won the Golden Ball Award after being adjudged the best player at the tournament. Teammates Emiliano Martinez and Enzo Fernandez were named best goalkeeper and best young player of the tournament respectively.

Atsu is competing in his first season with Turkish side Hatayspor and has made two appearances in all competitions since joining the team earlier this offseason.
