Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori is set to remain sidelined for an extended period to treat a knee injury that knocked him out of the Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ofori was expected to return to action by the start of the 2023 calendar year but Ofori’s club, Orlando Pirates, recently confirmed the shot stopper will remain out until mid to late January.

The former Maritzburg United goalkeeper is one of four players listed to return by the aforementioned period by Orlando Pirates.

Tebogo Tlolane (nursing an MCL tear) Olisa Ndah (dealing with a niggle) and Thembinkosi Lorch (dealing with a knock) are listed out at the moment.

The Ofori led quartet missed Orlando Pirates’ 0-2 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of games following the resumption of South Africa’s DSTV League.

Ofori was in line to be named in the Black Stars World Cup squad until aggravating a knee injury in Orlando Pirates win in the MTN Final 8 Final.

He was spotted in the gym working out in the early phase of his recovery. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
