In his final press conference as Southampton Football Club head coach, Nathan Jones described the role he tasked Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana to play in a league game against Wolves.

Southampton lost 1-2 to Wolves in the English Premier League this past weekend despite Wolves playing with a man less since the 27th minute.

The Saints got the game’s opening goal in the 24th minute through Carlos Alcaraz but Joao Gomes and an own goal from Jan Bednarek got Wolves the win.

Following the loss, Jones was sacked after just three months since he replaced Ralph Hassenhuthl as Southampton’s head coach.

However, in what turned out to be Jones final post game presser, the former left full back described Sulemana’s “creator” role in the loss.

“Kamaldeen I thought was excellent…We had Paul (Onuachu) as a focal point and then put Kamaldeen as a floating player that can create and do stuff for other players that are getting into the box” Jones said.

Southampton’s record signing Sulemana impressed in the game succeeding in eight out of 13 dribble attempts and was accurate on three out of four long ball attempts.

Sulemana joined Southampton from French Ligue 1 Stade Rennes in this year’s January transfer window.
