Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah scored in his debut game for Maritzburg United after securing a six month loan deal from fellow DSTV Premiership side Orlando Pirates.

Peprah’s goal got Maritzburg a 1-1 draw with Amazulu in the 2022-2023 league season; Peprah scored in the 31st minute but his effort was cancelled out in added on time through Cyril Mazibe.

Amazulu created several chances to get the equalizer and potentially the game winner but missed the opportunities until Mazibe’s strike pulled them even after a neat build up.

Former King Faisal marksman Peprah, got his first goal for Maritzburg by connecting his head to a cross after a corner kick was cleared away.

He was left unmarked just inside the left side of the penalty box and his header was strong and accurate enough across his body to the right side of the goal to beat Amazulu keeper Veli Mothwa.

Friday Samu replaced Peprah in the 75th minute.

Peprah was one of three Maritzburg signings made in January to aid the 14th ranked team beat the drop in the 16 team league standings.

Maritzburg plays Kaizer Chiefs on Friday, February 10 at 17:30 GMT in the NedBank Cup’s Round of 32 stage.
