SC Freiburg shows support to injured midfielder Daniel Kyereh

Ghana midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh’s 2022-2023 season has come to an end after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

The former St. Pauli player suffered the serious injury during a training session as SC Freiburg prepared to play VFB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

Freiburg went on to beat Stuttgart 2-1 with Vincenzo Grifo scoring twice from the penalty spot after Stuttgart scored the opening goal in the 30th minute.

Grifo celebrated one of his goals by holding up Kyereh’s number 11 jersey; teammates also wore pre game shirts with Kyereh’s name and jersey number on it.

The injury has taken Kyereh out of the season that had him score three goals and register an assist in 19 games in all competitions. Kyereh missed four games through illness and a muscular problem earlier this season.

This is Kyereh’s debut campaign in the Bundesliga with Freiburg after securing a move from lower division side St. Pauli ahead of the season.
