The 2023 edition of the “Play With Stephen” golf tournament has been launched.

This year’s event will take place from Friday, 25th August, 2023 to 27th August 2023 at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, Ghana.

The “Play With Stephen” initiative is geared towards creating awareness on autism as the month of April is dedicated to the human disorder and it will also serve as a platform to raise funds.

“Play With Stephen” was initiated in 2020 by Stephen Onaivi, who is passionate about golf and community wellbeing.

The tournament brings together golf enthusiasts, corporate partners, celebrities and media personalities to enjoy a weekend of fun and competition while supporting a noble cause.

The golf tournament proceeds go towards supporting various autism centres on the continent that provide diagnosis, therapy and education for children and adults with autism.

Commenting on this year’s edition of the tournament, Stephen Onaivi said: “A golf tournament is more than just a game. It is a community, a family and a platform for change. We are making a difference, one swing at a time. Through this event, we hope to create more awareness and raise support for people living with autism in Ghana and other parts of Africa. They deserve our respect, compassion and care.”

According to him, this campaign is also to help stop the stigma and discrimination of persons with autism.

The theme for this year is “Swing for Autism” and the aim is to raise funds for three Autism centres in Ghana.

The proceeds from the tournament will distributed among three entities: Autism Awareness, Care & Training Centre, Awaawa 2, both in Ghana and Shades of Life Care Centre in Nigeria.
