Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a set-back in their bid to challenge for the 2022/2023 BetPawa Premier League trophy, after Bechem United beat them via a narrow 1-0 win on Saturday at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Hafiz Konkoni scored the only goal of the game via a spot kick in the 21st minute of the first-half, to give the home team all three points in the Match Week 27 encounter.

David Ocloo’s men were looking to win this encounter to close the gap on league leaders Aduana Stars, to two points ahead of their clash on Sunday against Asante Kotoko, however, the Phobians were not able to secure the victory and now drop to fourth place with 42 points.

Bechem United on the other hand, move up to second place and just three points behind Aduana Stars at the top.

Hearts of Oak could move out of the top four, if defending Champions Asante Kotoko record a win against Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

In the other game played on Saturday, Kotoku Royals were held to a goalless draw at home by Real Tamale United.

The result means Kotoku Royals remain bottom of the league log with 22 points and are most likely to be relegated to the Division one, while RTU are 10th with 36 points, five above the relegation zone.
