Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member, Randy Abbey, is optimistic about the potential of the current Black Starlets team.

Ghana’s U-17 team, coached by Karim Zito, won the UEFA U-16 development tournament by winning all three matches, including a closely contested match against Switzerland.

Randy Abbey stated in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports that the GFA is prepared to give the national team more opportunities at the highest level.

“I think that it is something this particular FA has been doing, trying to create a lot of opportunities for the national teams.”

“I think the Starlets have started very well, we hope that they will be able to continue.”

“These are the kind of opportunities that the FA, through its technical directorate and national team directorate has been pushing to try and find a lot of opportunities.”

“Both U-20 female and male teams will be playing the WAFU in Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire pretty soon together with many other things bound to happen.”

“The FA is bent on providing opportunities to help nurture our talents and expose them.

“I am happy the Starlets have started well and we hope that they stay on course.”

Ramsey Asumadu scored a brace as Ghana beat Switzerland 3-2 to end their UEFA U-16 Tournament in Serbia.

The Black Starlets began the competition with a 4-0 win over host nation, Serbia following a hat-trick from Great Corinthians star man, Benjamin Tsivanyo and a thunderous free kick from Theophilus Adjei.

Ghana continued with a 3-2 win against Spain before wrapping things up with another impressive 3-2 win against Switzerland on Tuesday morning.

Coach Karim Zito’s team scored 10 goals and conceded four in the three matches.

The Ghana Football Association used the tournament as preparation for future international competitions.
