Coventry City have announced they have released Fankaty Dabo after 3 years at the club. Dabo infamously missed a penalty in last weekend’s Play-off final.
Fankaty Dabo began his football career at Chelsea but never made an appearance for the first team. He was loaned out to various clubs including Vitesse Arnhem.
He eventually joined Coventry in 2019 when the side was in League One. Dabo made 32 appearances winning the club’s Player of the Year award as the Sky Blues won the league and promotion to the Championship.
Dabo came on in the 90th minute of the match and played all 30 minutes of extra time before taking the 6th penalty in the shoot-out. He skied his penalty giving Luton promotion to the Premier League.
Thank you for everything, Fanky! đź’™
