Black Stars midfielder, Salis Abdul Samed, has missed out on a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for the 2022-2023 campaign.

The 23-year-old starred in RC Lens brilliant campaign that ended with the team making it to the UEFA Champions League for next season.

His brilliant run culminated in being named the best central midfielder by popular French sports news outlet Get French Football News.

However, Samed’s contribution wasn’t enough to get him voted into the official Ligue 1 Team of the season unlike four of his teammates.

Striker Lois Openda, midfielder Seko Fofana, defender Kevin Danso and goalkeeper Brice Samba represented Lens in the elite team that was headlined by PSG duo Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Samed made 32 league appearances scoring once and assisting once while adding four appearances in the French Cup.

Danso is of Ghanaian descent but represents Austria internationally and prior to committing to Austria, the 24-year-old was also eligible to play for England.

Samed was a mainstay in Lens’ midfield after competing for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
